That's a big fish! Martin Aigner captured an amazing photograph of a white shark investigating the cage with its mouth. Although I wish I’d been in the cage with him for that view, I was in the cage above filming it happen. You can even here the bite! It’s better if they don’t bite the cage and usually they don’t, but sometimes you get a particularly curious and bold shark. Notice that the shark was not being lured nor was it charging the cage. Can you imagine if we were judged according to the same standards we judge sharks!? Sharks aren't allowed to EVER make a mistake without all hell breaking loose. There are more and more of us all the time, they have less and less food and habitat thanks to us. Their oceans are changing thanks to us. They are the ultimate predator and we are the easiest of prey. And yet, statistically, we are almost never bitten by them even by accident. How is this possible?!! Instead of wondering why sharks bite us, start asking why they don't more often.

What makes a beach a "protected" beach? In the last clip Natal Sharks Board explained that the nets are not barriers, in fact most animals are caught after already visiting the beach then attempting to go back to the open ocean. This means that humans and sharks were sharing that water without incident up until the time the sharks left and were killed trying to return to sea. I'd like you to mull that over for a minute and then answer at least one of the following:
1. If the sharks were at the beach with you, in your opinion, does this qualify as what you imagined a "protected" beach to be?
2. Why didn't those sharks bite anyone? Did the presence of nets that sharks didn't encounter have anything to do with whether or not they bit anyone?
3. If no, then what's the difference between a protected beach and a non protected beach other than the random killing of animals?
